Rolling is a chopstick rest made from natural pebbles.
Inspired by the formation of river pebbles, I select stones of the appropriate size and shape, carve grooves for functionality, and then use a machine to roll and grind them with water and abrasive materials to simulate the natural state of a pebble in a river. Eventually, all artificially crafted edges are smoothed out, and the pebble is restored to its rounded, natural state while retaining its functionality as a chopstick rest.
By compressing the centuries-long journey of a pebble into a brief, tangible moment, this process highlights the power of natural erosion and creates a unique aesthetic. Here, craftsmanship, machining, and the forces of nature are harmonized.
